ROMEO AND JULIET ~

is still there people who never heard or know about a tragic love between Romeo and Juliet? i believe that everyone must have heard about them. it does not matter how you know them since they are the most famous fictional characters for most all the time ( that is what i think.. ). you know why?? it is because there are numerous masterpiece that based on they story adapted in various forms; novel, movie, cartoon, anime etc. here they are..

the main issue that has been discussed in this novel is the forbidden love between two person from different clan. those two clans are never in a good term. but because of a strong love between Romeo and Juliet, they even disobeying their own parents. it become such a tragic love story because both of them are trying to achieve their happiness until up to one point killing their own self.  

actually i had read and watched the story of Romeo and Juliet in various forms. so, i personally think that their action have the pros and cons not only to themselves but also to the people around them. first, the pros that they get due to their action is they can find their true love. both of them fall in love at the first moment they meet. they also promise to each other to face all the obstacles and endure it together. it really make them a match made in heaven. However, regardless of all that  they end up dying without even achieving the happiness that they always dream. it really disappointing when Romeo killed himself when he really believe Juliet had died . actually Juliet just drank a potion that only make her unconscious for awhile because she does not want to marry to Count Paris. see, because of their recklessness, they end up dying at young age.

next, the effect of their  action toward the people around them. people around them get the benefit when both clan ( Montague and Capulet ) end their feud after their kids had successfully prove to the world that they can accept each other even their family are enemies when they are willing to die together. so, because of that, Montague and Capulet are ready to accept each other. but before their death, their forbidden love also brought a catastrophic effect to their family. catastrophic effect, somehow i think is such a excessive hyperbole in this case. anyway, because of that there are several family members from both clan are being killed. i think it really upsetting because they are being killed while protecting the one that they love.

DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE

it has been awhile since i last update about the novel that i read. so, starting this point  i will brace myself to keep updating all the novels that i had finished a long time ago. ^_^

after the Railway Children, here is Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde which its genre is a bit different from the previous one. this novel has the element of horror, thriller and gothic.

it actually is about the 'split personality' of a person. the psychiatry always referred this as dissociative identity disorder ( DID ), where within the same body there exists more than one distinct personality. for this novel, there are two personalities within Dr. Jekyll. one of it is apparently good while the other is evil.

if i being asked whether i will read this novel again or not? i will answer that i will absolutely read it repeatedly. you know why?? i feel so anticipated about what will happen every time Mr. Hyde appears and start killing people with the face of an honorable Dr. Jekyll. besides, i really excited to know weather Dr Jekyll will win the trial or not since it clearly shows that 'Dr. Jekyll' is a murderer. i will keep asking these kind of question every time i spend my valuable time to read this novel.

on top of that, what i realize in this novel is we still have the people that will support ourselves even though we might hurt them. it is just like Dr. Jekyll's friend and lawyer that always support and protect him.we are not alone. never.

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN

It has been a while since i had read this novel. the first time i read this novel was when i was in form 3. it is because this novel is included in our syllabus. this novel is about 3 young children are trying their best to save a train from danger.

this novel had been published for the first time in 1906. the author of this novel ( edith nesbit ) has successfully wrote a kind of masterpiece, in 1970 there is movie that has been created based on this novel under the same name. apparently, this story has been accepted world widely.

one lesson i learned from this material is in some circumstances even the children can be the savior. based on the novel, the 3 children managed to save a train from a danger situation. the train will eventually collide with landslide and it will become such  a tragic accident if those children did not help them. in my opinion they are so brave since they put their own life in line when they are standing on the railway track to stop the train. one of them waved a red flag made from a petticoat as a signal for train driver to stop the train. 

i am really amazed and excited when they eventually success in their mission to save the train. because of their bravery, they manage to save a lot of people. after that they are awarded with medal for their braveness. 

our life is like a cycle. when we do a good thing, we will a get a good thing. but, when we do a bad thing to other people, other people will do a bad thing to us.

Before I am giving my opinion about the novel that I had read this week, let me share some quotes.

Those inspirational quotes I got them while I am reading a novel based on a diary of a true story. The novel’s title is One Litre of Tears. Basically, this novel is about a teenager who suffered incurable disease at a young age. The disease that she suffered is Spinocereballar Degeneration. Firstly, this disease is due to the genetic mutation. The patients who suffer this disease will encounter the difficulties to balance their body and even to talk.

So, Aya was one of the unlucky person who need to suffer this disease. She needed to face this cruel fate at the age of 15 years old. At first, she was an ordinary girl who would enter the high school. As the passed, there were many unusual things stated to happen on her. For example, she began to fall down often and she could not maintain the balance of her body. Her mother who is a health consultant worried about her. Thus, she decided to bring Aya to the hospital.

After that, the doctor revealed that she suffered a cruel and incurable disease. Aya and her parents could not accept it. After a long time had passed, Aya already accept that reality. She continuously wrote a diary from the day she knew about her disease until the end of her life without fail. It is because she believes that by writing a diary it can be evidence that she is still alive and it is the purpose she is still breathing. Slowly, she lost her ability one by one. At the age of 25 years old, she had fall asleep forever after 10 years struggling to fight against her disease.

This novel gives an enormous impact on me. It is because it shows how Aya working so hard to fight with her disease. She never gave up although she knew the future that she would face. So, I felt that I need to grab the opportunity that I have now and do my best to achieve my dream. Next, it also because through this novel, it shows how Aya tried to help the other people who suffer the same disease as her to continue live without regretting it via her diary. Hence, I believe that everyone in this world can be a useful person toward the entire society even if they are terminally ill.

So, how about us who have a perfect life?

At the age of twelve, she had been sent to a convent. Her father said it was the price that she need to pay. But, she did not understand what does it means. Why she need to pay the price? What had she done? All of these questions kept wandering in her mind. They called Laura ‘La Muta’ which means The Silence One. Unfortunately, she is about to break her silence.

Laura della Scala. Her father is a powerful man and had decided what she needs to do in her life. She also had a sister that she loved so much. One day, Abbess met Laura and said that she was going to leave the convent and someone would wait for Laura at the south entrance. She confused whether Abbess was testing her or not. When she arrived at her house, she saw a coffin. She was so sad because her sister was the one in the coffin. Suddenly, he father told her that she needed to replace her sister as Vincenzo fiancée.

After a few days, Laura and her father went for a party. Surprisingly, she saw a man that she met at the convent. At that time she was helping that man by taking the poison out of him. She was told that she could not say a single word about that incident because no one in Venice could find out what he suffered. Then, one of the woman at the party told Laura that man was the most powerful man in Venice, Doge. While she was having a conversation with Paulina and Carina, and old man came toward them. He is Vincenzo. Laura felt surprised and sad because she needed to marry an old man.

Allegreza told Laura secretly that she could help her from marrying Vincenzo. But she needed to tell them a secret. In order to save herself, she told them Doge’s secret. After a few days passed, it revealed that Vincenzo was a spy of Venice’s enemies.

In my opinion, the most significant aspect about this material is secret. Secret is something that we supposed to keep it from being revealed. It is because the word is sharper than a sword. So, I think that a single word can destroy one’s life. It does not matter whether he is the person that we trust the most, he still can stab us from the back in order. Just like Vincenzo and Doge, both of them had their own secret and once it revealed to the world it is a nightmare for them. All the secrets should be seal in a 'Pandora Box'.

‘ The Devotion Of Suspect X ‘ is a novel by Keigo Higashino. Basically this novel is the third novel in his Detective Galileo series. Actually, I know about this masterpiece work is from a Japanese movie with the same title that I had watched last year. But, recently I had found that movie is actually based on a novel and it has its own English translation. In fact it was nominated for numerous awards. Due to its popularity it also had been made into a Korean movie with a title ‘ Perfect Number ‘. So, I was so excited when I am reading this marvelous novel !!

The story begins all people are doing their daily routine as usual. Yasuko Hanaoka is a divorced, single mother who works at a restaurant while Ishigami is a highly talented Mathematics teacher. The conflict started when Yasuko ex-husband came to her house to extort money for Yasuko by threatening both her and her daughter. Unfortunately, while trying to defend herself and her daughter from her abusive ex-husband, she unintentionally killed that man. Ishigami who lives next door of Yasuko came over and offered his help by disposing not only the body but to create alibi for them.

When the corpse had been found, Kusanagi a detective of a murder case felt suspicious toward Yasuko bur he could not found hole on her alibi. Then he asked help from Dr. Yukawa Manabu a physicist and his college friend. Yukawa is also Ishigami friend. He realized that ishigami is a genius and he suspect that Ishigami had something to do with the murder. Ishigami did it to protect Yasuko by covering the murder committed by Yusako.

If I can meet one of the characters I would like to meet Yasuko Hanaoka. It is because I want to make her to realize that even she run from the problem that she faced, it does not mean she will be free from it. It is just like when she and her neighbour, Ishigami tried to cover the murder by disposing the corpse but at the end all the evidences were still pointing straight to her.

In my point of view, she supposedly told the truth to the policemen and the detective. It is because they will investigate the case by using all the evidence. She also can explain that she was unintentionally killed him while trying to save herself and her daughter. Thus, she will not being charged as a murder because it is considered as a self-defense.

In contrast when she tried to cover it, she had made an innocent mathematics teacher turned into a criminal. So, basically I think that all the people in this world need to face their hardships with bravery and confidence.

Today, I will go home!! :)

So, before that I will make a short review about the novel that I had read for this entire week. The novel for this week is MAGIC HOUR.

Basically this novel is about two old men were going for fishing at one of the bank river. Unfortunately, one of the old men fell into the river because he was like being attracted by something that is really strong and he was swept away by torrential. His friend panicked, and he jumped into the river to save his friend. But, he failed. Then he found ‘ something ‘ in the river and he picked up that thing and put in his bag.

When the policemen and detective came at the scene, they started to investigate. The detective asked the old man some questions because he was the witness of the incident. Suddenly, there was a woman came at the scene and claimed that she was the witness and she saw everything vividly what happened between the two old man. She said that the old man hit his friend’s head with the rock after they were quarrelling. As the result, that old man became unconscious and fell down into the river and his friend hided the crime weapon in his bag.

The detective started to believe what that lady said. So they investigated that old man’s bag and unbelievable the found a big rock with a blood spot!!

After done with the reading, I think that by reading this novel is very beneficial for me in the future because it teach me to be fair when I am making a decision. I need to go through all the evidence and not be influence by the other people.

First of all, today I would like to describe briefly about Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Basically, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is cancer that originated in your lymphatic system. In Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the tumors will develop from lymphocytes ( a type of white blood cell ) in your body.

For this week, I read a story with a title An Unpredictable Life. This story was related to the disease that I had mentioned before. It is a true story based on the writer’s experience. It started when she was diagnosed with cancer a week before her 16^th birthday. She had a Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma which usually attack old people. She needed to undergo Chemotherapy and Stem Cell transplant, back in 2003. The whole of her life changed.

The thing that I found interesting in this story is how the writer fight with her disease with all her might instead of being gives up. It is shown when she tried her best to have a positive thinking. Have you heard that the one who has a positive mind will have a good immunity system in contrast with the one with a negative mind? So, due to her positive mind, she managed to think that the disease that she suffered was an opportunity learn something new and make a lot of new friends that she would not be able if she did not suffer that disease. She also did not afraid of getting treatment although it also had a side effect to her. The side effect could be in a short term or a long term. For instance, when she was getting the treatment her hair would fall one by one until she did not have hair anymore. That is for the short term. For the long term, she will be infertile for the rest of her life. But all of that are not the reasons for her not being treated.

I strongly recommend this story to all my blog’s reader especially to those who have the people around them that has the same fate as the writer. It is because usually people will think they will not have a future anymore when they were diagnosed to have cancer. But from this true story, everyone will realize that even you have cancer at the stage 4 but you still have the future.

when you are walking through a tunnel that full with darkness, don't be afraid. believe in yourself and keep moving because there is light at the end of every tunnel :)

Before we start, let’s have some quiz

Are they good to you?

How many people in their family?

If you are being ask that entire question, do you think that you can answer it confidently? I think the first question you can answer it confidently but the others you might need some time to answer it right?

Basically, it is because the people nowadays rarely spend their time with the people around them. It is not because they are selfish or what but it is due to their daily schedules that make it hard to them. They need to give the priority and full of commitment for their works in order to stabilize their finance.

So, that is just an introduction for my novel review for this week. For this week, I spend my precious time to read an entertaining story with a title ‘PSYCHIC NEXT DOOR’. First of all this story is about a woman name Rachel that had moved into a new house after she divorced. After that she found that the person who lived next door was a psychic. She was someone who didn’t believe toward something that related to magic or supernatural.

After a week passed, she suddenly found that she was attracted to Luc, the psychic. Unfortunately, at the same time many mysterious incidents occurred to her. She shared her problem with her friend, Polly. Everyday, she also heard the sound of growl in her house and it made her to feel so scared. Finally, Polly offered Rachel to come to her house. She gave Rachel a ‘special’ room. They suspect that Luc was the one who put curse on Rachel. Besides, Polly also told Rachel that Luc was her sister’s ex-boyfriend and her beloved sister died after they broke up.

The villain in this story is Lillian.

I was shock when I found that Lillian is still alive although everyone had claimed she was died two years ago. One of my friends asked me, do you sympathize to Lillian? I replied to her curtly, “Yes!”. In my point of view I think that Lillian is such a sadist because she obtained pleasure from inflicting pain on others. It is proved when she tried to hurt Rachel and Polly her younger sister by using a black magic just because she can’t get the love from Luc anymore. Therefore, she turned into a green-eyed monster. Logically, when someone hurt someone else, that person will share the pain especially when they hurt their own siblings. Just imagine, how much the pain that Lillian needed to endure just to get vengeance?

On top of that, I also sympathize her because she was left by her soul mate just because of her passion to unlock her curiosity about magic. For me, when someone is eager to gain knowledge, we supposedly give them support and not to condemn them. So, they will continue gaining knowledge and use them wisely in the future.

Celia Jane together with her other family member were at her father funeral. Her father was a corpsman in the navy. One day, her father’s convey was attacked by explosive weapon and resulting her father to die at that moment. Then, her family moved into the New Orleans. When she was at the cemetery she felt so sad. So, she decided to walk for a moment around the cemetery alone. Suddenly, she felt someone stroke her hair. It was a very gentle movement, soft. She turned around expecting it would be either her mom or her other family member. Surprisingly, no one was there.

On one night, she found there was an unusual tree, with trunk pale as bone and wide, spade-shaped leaves a remarkable dark red. There was also the hallow looks sort of like a wooden mailbox hanging off the side of the tree. On Halloween, bizarre supernatural occurred at her. Celia met with a mysterious Luc and found a letter, over a hundred years old, addressed to her. After that Celia learnt that Luc was the restless spirit a young man murdered in 1854. She also found that the letter that addressed to her describe the suspect murder of a man 1870.

With help from Luc, Tilly and Donovan, Celia races to solve the murder and all the mystery of the letter by using both magical and forensic clues.

I would like to recommend this material because I found that this material is a little bit different from the other material that I read before. It is because the author of this story, Kira Snyder combined so many elements in her writing. For instance, she put the element of a family life, friendship, fantasy and even some paranormal element. I think that when all of these elements are being combined harmoniously this material will become a masterpiece. Besides, this material also will increase the imaginary skill of its reader. I as a reader of this material had already experience it. I started to imagine the image of the tree that has trunk pale as bone with the dark red spade-shape leaves. It is something absurd and impossible to be found in this world but it is not impossible to be existed in our mind. Thus, your brain will work creatively to create an appropriate image of something that you never seen before.

I had read one of the quotations from Albert Einstein before this; he stated that the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. So, I believe that this material is very suitable to be read by the other people.

Have you heard about DNA? I believe if you took the biology subject during the secondary school you will know about it. DNA is something that carries the genetic material that we got from our parents.

Here are some images of DNA in our body.

Basically for this week, I read a story that related to the DNA in human’s body. The title of this interesting story is Project Code. Actually Project Code is a secret project that was conducted by Bio-Gen Company. Project Code is working with a mutation that can be found in some people’s DNA. This mutation is known to lay dormant until the person experience a large adrenalin rush. McCloud Chloe is one of the employees at the Bio-Gen Company. One day, her boss called her and told her that she possessed DNA that could mutate. When the DNA had mutated the person will have a very special ability. Then, all the people that have that kind of DNA need to stay in the same place in order to wake up their ability and learn on how to control it.

One day, Chloe got a mission from her boss. She was being ordered to take the file from Dr. Kumar’s house. After she had accomplished her task, she went back to the car. On their journey to go back Chloe opened that file and suddenly she found out that her boss planned to create an army together with all the people that have the special ability. Lastly, Chloe and her friends worked together to stop her boss from creating an army.

One issue discussed by this material is how the powerful people are abusing their power. It can be seen when Mr Jamieson who tried to create an army and tried to take the advantage from the people that have the special ability. In my opinion I think that all the powerful people are suppose to help and support all the other people. It is really important in order to maintain the peace of our beloved country.
