IN 10 SECONDS WHAT IS....

another relaxing and enjoying english class. :) so for today we play a game ( i don't really know its name ) that has been conducted by our english lecturer. it is a simple game but really exciting! it is because we need to list the related things as much as we could  based on the category stated by miss jo.

every correct word, we will be awarded 10 marks. other than that, there is also 'challenge' session. it is where each group must send one representative and do the challenge. some challenges need a brave person, need a creative person and even a person who really good at singing.

- challenge session -

i also have the opportunity to participate in this session. the task that has been given to me is "please draw a dinosaur". i'm not a creative person so it quite difficult for me to draw it. since i don't have choice, i still draw it even it does not even look like dinosaur. but, there is one drawing that has a huge impact to the whole class. the whole class are laughing happily every time we saw this picture.

the most innocent and cute dinosaur forever :)

after spending almost one hour, we had been asked to total up our mark. i thought we will end the game at that point. but, no, there is still a new game for us to play. we need to by certain raw material like A4 paper and sellotape at certain price using the mark that we have collected. the more mark you collect, the more advantageous you are,

by using those 2 things, we need to build a structure that can withstand a 1kg book. at first we think it quite impossible for a mere A4 paper to do that. but still we try to do it. we brought up all the idea that we have in mind and we choose the best one. finally this is the result..

i admit that even our group member does not have faith that this fragile structure can withstand the weight of 1kg book. when come to our turn to test it, i think it will crumple after we put the book above it and this what happen...

unbelievable! it can withstand the weight..

we might become the winner if we made the structure a little bit tall. other than its height, everything is perfect! hahaha... it is such a miracle... :P

so, what i can conclude from this activity is we need to do everything passionately since it might be very useful in the future. Just like how we answer all the questions, if we do it with extra effort and passion we can collect more mark. so we can buy more raw material thus we can build a higher structure.

second, i learn that i can't judge anything based on its appearance only. it doesn't matter whether it is a people or a thing. it is because we don't know the strength that it has.

that's all for this time.. thankyou.. ;)

LANGKAWI BOTTOM

Can you imagine what will happen when character from Malaysian film encounter with the American superhero?? It absolutely absurd when you think it for the first time. But, if you take around 5 minute it can be something imaginable. Seriously.. my friend and i had successfully create a fusion between the legend of Mahsuri with the Bikini Bottom. So, it become 'Langkawi Bottom'

actually, it is a task given by our lecturer to make a sketch as creative as we can by using the character that we had choose beforehand. So in my group we had all the character that has been listed below:-

LANGKAWI BOTTOM_CHARACTERS

Spongebob Squarepant
Patrick
Mahsuri
Nujum Pak Belalang
Mat Jenin

even when looking at the characters, it feel kinda weird right.. ^_^  So, let me summarized what actually this Langkawi Bottom is about... Here we go..

Since Mahsuri has been killed cruelly even she does not do anything wrong. Due to that unfairness, she decided to put a cursed on Langkawi for seven generation. After she died, Langkawi has sink under the water and has been polluted by radioactive substances.

Mat Jenin, the one who really love to day-dream even when he is doing works. One fine day, after he has finished cleaning, he rest for a while. Suddenly, he fall asleep and Nujum Pak Belalang came to him. Pak Belalang tells Mat Jenin that he will become the savior of Langkawi. But he need to travel to the end of the world to meet Mahsuri's spirit that is still wandering.

Then, he decided to become the who one who can reverse back the cursed made by Mahsuri. After a long journey, he finally met with Mahsuri's spirit. Without wasting time, he asked Mahsuri what he need to do in order to reversed back the cursed. Mahsuri said that he need to solve a riddle. The riddle is...

ohh...
who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
absorbant and yellow and porous is he!

# this is the lyric of spongebob opening song, but please read it in a poem version :P

After he had received the riddle, he start his journey again to find that weird yellow thing. He needs to face so many difficulties before he can meet with that thing. Luckily, while he is resting that yellow things together with his pinkish friend pass through him. They are actually trying to catch jelly fish.

Then, Mat Jenin approaches them. He tells them the whole story of his journey and lastly he already get the answer for the Mahsuri's riddle. The answer is Spongebob Squarepant!! So, he rushed back to meet Mahsuri and tells her the answer. Yes, he got the right answer. As has been promised, Mahsuri reversed back the curse and everything goes back to normal except for one thing. Langkawi is not floating back! As a result, all the creature there are drowned together and Mat Jenin wakes up again.

- THE END -

everything that has been done, surely has its own purpose. So, in my opinion the purpose of this activity is to test our ability to complete the task within a short time. even the time given is absolutely limited, but I feel so proud with all my group-mates since we can come up with this interesting idea. I admit that the story line is quite typical but we managed to combine the historical and fictional element together harmonically. :)

next, like usual when we are given a task and it should be complete together with the other group-mates, i believe it must be related to the teamwork. The thing that i realized today is even when we are not in the same group with the people that we are comfortable, it does not mean we can't cooperate at all. In fact, when I am in this group where not all of them are closed to me, I have a feeling that I need to do my best.

every person in a group is just like a piece of puzzle that will complement each other

see you soon :D

CRIMINAL MINDS ( X_X )

you have been caught..

'Murderer' is a game that has been played by a large group of people. every player has their own role in this game. there are 4 role in this game which are:-
  • murderer - kill the people
  • policemen - catch the murderer
  • town people - waiting to be kill
  • angle/doctor - save the people
so, each of my class member has pick one of the small paper to determine the role that they will play. for this time i got the role as a town people. actually the town people are not just to wait to be kill. at the end of each round they need to discuss and point out one name to be the murderer. i think it is a little bit bored to be a town people. i really wish i get the role of murderer... hehehe...

waiting for someone to be killed

the thing that i can get from this activity is we need to have a good communication skill with our accomplice if we want to win the game. for example, the murderers need to choose the person that they will killed without talking to each other. it will be hard if there no chemistry between the accomplice.

next, as the policemen or the town people, they need to pay attention to all kind of movement of sound around them. it is because the there are suspicious movement or sound, we can conclude the people around us are trying to communicate to other people. so, he or she might be the murderer.

lastly, the most important but difficult role, the angle/doctor. in every round they need to make a good judgement to guess who have the highest possibilities to be killed so that they can save that unlucky person. if they have made a wrong judgement, it is a waste since they try to save a healthy person while the true victim is dying cruelly...

the end~

MOVIE TIME !!

Watching movie is the most excited time.. it is because by watching movie I can learn a lot of new things indirectly and even in more relaxing condition. it is really helpful in developing my english skill. so, for this time my lecturer had shown us a 35 years old movie..

basically this movie is about the difference between the live style of the Bushmen and the civilized men. The Bushmen lived in a place called 'dessert' while the civilized men live in a city that full with technologies.

The Bushmen have their own freedom. They can do what ever they want without worrying the time, the day, or anything. It is because they don't even have clock or calendar. it is contradict with the civilized men. On 8:00am they should look busy. On 10:15am they should take a 15 minute break. It just look like the civilized men do not have their own freedom to manage their time. And somehow I feel a little bit sympathy toward them.

the bushmen - I can do anything what I want  :)

civilized men - I need to do this, this, and this T_T

after the movie ended, there are two things that I can conclude. first, it is about the to appreciate on whatever we get. Next, the technology will continue develop and become more complex in the future.

appreciating something is really important especially in our daily life. It is because when we know how to appreciate something. For instance a trash can be a gold for those who know to appreciate it. Just like how the bushmen who found a bottle that had been thrown by a pilot. they used it wisely. they used that bottle to produce a sound and even used it to crash something. For me, they really know how to appreciate something compare to the civilized men. they bushed men are also creative..

Next, the development of technology will continue and it will become more complex. just like the narrator had stated, " they will continue to develop something complex in order to make their life easier ". actually I don't really remember the original statement that had made by the narrator. But, i am pretty sure that they  have the same meaning. hahaha... okay, nowadays, the development of technology can be seen clearly that they have become complex after a few decades had past. For example the development of phone.

the old design_simple

a new design_complex

anyway, even there are so many things that have become complex but they are really helpful in our hectic daily life. so, let's try to be like the bushmen who really appreciate on anything they get :D

thankyouuu...

18 THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T DO ABROAD

those are the thing that we should avoid when we are abroad. but what is the reason for that?

REASONS NOT TO DO IT :

  • France - asking about money is impolite in many countries but French sometimes treat this critically.
  • Ukraine - people in Ukraine as well as in most Slavic countries bring even number of flower to the cemeteries.
  • New Zealand - when you are honking in NZ, it means that you strongly disagree with his or her reaction and it also used when you want to insult another driver.
  • India - kissing or holding hand are forbidden because it considered as something inappropriate to do in public
  • Japan - Japanese are proud to provide the best  service as standard without waiting for the tips
  • Mexico - locals love to make jokes and they are generally fun and innocent
  • Norway - Many people don't go to church at all, so it would be rude to ask
  • Turkey - this is an obscene gesture in turkey
  • UK - such behavior is usually condemned
  • Ireland - the locals don't think that they have any accent at all
  • Germany - the people believe that the person may not live to the birthday if they are being congratulated with it beforehand
  • Kenya - as symbol of respect toward others. only do it when someone has called you by the name first
  • Chile - it s all about the manners here.
  • USA - tipping is obligatory
  • Italy - Italians only drink cappuccino for breakfast
  • Hungary - though it is an old habit, some people still prefer to avoid clinking glasses especially when drinking beer
  • China - they believed clock and umbrella bring bad luck when given as presents

based on all the taboos that has been listed above, I have been attracted to one of of it which is " Do not order cappuccino in restaurant ". besides, the reason behind it also make me feel more curious since cappuccino is one of the famous Italian coffee.

the Italians only drink cappuccino during breakfast is because they firmly convince that drinking milk after any meal will mess up the ability to digest food properly. So, in Italy it is unthinkable if you are having cappuccino at any time after lunch or dinner.

Lastly, I think that if the fact drinking milk after any meal will mess up our ability to digest food is true thus, we as a Malaysian also need to take some action regarding this things. It is because we also need to make sure that our body is always in a healthy condition in order to become a more productive person.

GOOGLY GOOGLY GO AWAY...

today, during the class hour we decided to watch a movie which is The Fall. basically this movie is about a stuntman who has been hospitalized try to trick a young and innocent girl to steal morphine. he want to fall into a deep sleep by eating that morphine.

he trick that girl by telling a story about a fantastic story of five mythical heroes. he managed to make the line between the fiction and the reality blurs in that girl's imagination.

after the movie ended, my lecturer asked to write one of the question that we really want to know. when all the questions had been collected, each of us need to pick up one of the questions. Luckily, i has got this question.

'' What is the function of the mask man with sword in the hospital? "

i think this is the mask man that has been mentioned above.

so, i think the reason why the mask man is in the hospital is to prove that in that girl's mind, the fiction has been blended into the reality. thus, for some reasons the girl feels that she is being chased by that mask man when she once again tries to steal morphine. in my opinion, actually in real life that mask man is actually the either the doctor or the medical attendance.

besides, i also think the function of that mask man is to portray Roy has successfully deceive that girl. which means  that girl cannot differentiate the reality and the imagination anymore.
